• The Dusit Central Park project elevates global mixed-use development with a serious and profound commitment to Biophilic Design, collaborating with true experts to create a tangible and sustainable living experience. It features Thailand’s Largest Urban Roof Park, spanning over 7 rai (11,200 square meters), offering a lifestyle seamlessly integrated with nature in the heart of the city.
  • It establishes an urban ecosystem of "People - Nature - Life," linking the lifestyle of "Live – Stay – Play – Shop – Work" to a balanced urban living context, enhancing opportunities for closeness to nature, rejuvenating the body and mind, and reducing "Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD)."

Viman Surya Co., Ltd., the developer of Dusit Central Park, a world-class mixed-use project under the concept of Here for Bangkok, and the developer of The Residences at Dusit Central Park, the best luxury residential project in the Super Core CBD, is bringing the concept of Biophilia into the design of the Roof Park, the largest urban roof park in Thailand. This strategic point connects four project components: hotel, residential, shopping center, and office space, creating opportunities for urban society to connect with nature, fostering relationships among "People - Nature - Life," reducing "Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD)," and enhancing green spaces with technology for quality of life and sustainability, making Bangkok a quality city filled with happiness and global growth.

Mr. Laitawat Kowawisarach, CEO of Viman Surya Co., Ltd., stated, "The driving force behind the construction of Dusit Central Park is our commitment to enhance the area to create a better quality of life for society and the Thai people, providing green spaces that everyone can share. This will benefit the environment and ecosystem, leading to an elevation of urban ecology that increases the quality of green spaces in Bangkok, creating a ripple effect in society to recognize the importance and benefits of green spaces that should be preserved. We incorporate Sustainability Design and Ecosystem perspectives as guiding principles, especially in the Roof Park area, which integrates the concept of Biophilia, meaning a good relationship with nature. Erich Fromm introduced the concept of Biophilia, which was later developed into the Biophilia Hypothesis by Edward O. Wilson in 1984, stating that the deep bond between humans and nature is not just psychological but is also deeply rooted in our DNA. Therefore, connecting with nature is crucial for human well-being, and distancing from nature leads to negative psychological and emotional impacts."

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cities with a good environment should have a minimum green space of 9 square meters per person, with an ideal standard of 50 square meters per person. The green spaces considered must be accessible for relaxation and various activities. Furthermore, it is suggested that urban neighborhoods should have green spaces distributed within walking distance of every 300 - 500 meters. Many countries worldwide are increasingly prioritizing the creation of green spaces in communities, such as Singapore's Nature Ways project, which developed tree-lined roads to reduce air temperature, increase habitats for wildlife, and help reduce air pollution, placing Singapore second in the Green View Index of Treepedia, which measures urban tree density.

Mr. Laitawat added, "We have drawn positive case studies under the concept of Biophilia that impact work performance based on a study from Harvard University, which found that residents in LEED-certified buildings with natural surface materials or views of green spaces positively affect work efficiency. This enhances problem-solving, reasoning, and planning capabilities. We summarized these findings to plan the expansion of green spaces within the building area so that residents, hotel guests, shoppers, and office workers can access and experience nature whenever they wish, reducing stress from work and lifestyle. Collaborating with expert designers, we incorporate 'Biophilic Design' into the mixed-use project development through architectural elements that utilize shapes, patterns, natural textures, green landscapes, natural materials, and water features to create a relaxing atmosphere that helps control temperatures naturally, which is crucial in Bangkok's hot climate. These elements enhance the sensory experience, allowing visitors to feel a deep connection with nature even in the city center."

For Thailand, we are presenting Thailand’s Largest Urban Roof Park, a 7 rai (11,200 sq.m.) green space designed for urban dwellers, offering an Extended Park View that feels like being on a hill, seamlessly connecting with Lumpini Park. This is the first and only place in Bangkok that can integrate the views of the rooftop park and Lumpini Park without interruption, further enhanced by principles of design that connect people with nature and ecosystem principles, which involve living organisms interacting with their surrounding environment, including plants, animals, and microorganisms working with water, soil, and air to maintain the balance of the earth. The selection of 100% native Thai plants helps trap dust while attracting beneficial insects and small animals, along with the creation of waterfalls, enhancing the environmental quality sustainably, improving air quality, reducing temperatures, and alleviating the Urban Heat Island Effect by absorbing and retaining rainwater, while also employing sustainable technologies such as HVAC Optimization and Lighting Control systems that automatically adjust to the building's internal and external environments, as well as Solar Roof systems, Water Management, and Water Treatment for recycling wastewater within the project.

"Because we recognize the importance of health and well-being for the people of Bangkok, we are committed to creating green spaces filled with ecological diversity that not only meet nature's needs but also connect humans with nature, allowing people of all ages to live balanced lives in the city and engage in various activities, including the Food Passage zone with renowned restaurants, the Bird Nest zone for enjoying views of Bangkok and Lumpini Park, the D Garden zone connecting to the Residents’ Private Garden of Dusit Residences, waterfall zones scattered throughout the park, and the Amphitheater zone for various activities such as art shows, music, outdoor movies, workshops, and mini-events, along with a Natural Trail for everyone to enjoy nature. This intention is not only to create a shaded area for the project but also to be one of the spaces that elevate Bangkok to a quality city filled with happiness and capable of sustainable global growth because a good quality of life starts with a good environment," Mr. Laitawat concluded.
